My Personal Journey is to continue to uplift and provided positive energy to those who haven’t experienced it in a while, while becoming more educated in the process.

What is your story

Growing up as a young “country girl” from Shreveport, Louisiana, I never imagined pursuing a college education. Higher education once felt distant, but it has now become my path to growth. My story is about turning setbacks into passion and using personal growth to serve others.

My journey has included challenges. As a woman who faced legal troubles, I was told I would not succeed. Instead of accepting this, I used it to drive change. I overcame obstacles and refused to be a statistic.

Professionally, I have found purpose in serving others. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, mentor to women who have lost their children, and Case Manager II, I have helped clients rebuild family relationships, maintain sobriety, and re-enter the workforce. These roles allow me to witness and facilitate real change, turning hope into tangible outcomes.

Making a positive difference in others’ lives brings me a deep sense of fulfillment. My experiences have shown me that change is possible, no matter the circumstances. Because I have overcome my own struggles, I am committed to giving back and uplifting others on their journeys.

As I continue to grow, I remain dedicated to paying it forward. We are all recipients of blessings in different forms, and it is our responsibility to extend those blessings to others. Through service, compassion, and resilience, we can create meaningful change—not only in our own lives but also in those around us.

Accomplishments/Accolades/Awards

With determination and perseverance, I earned associate degrees in Social and Behavioral Science, Criminal Justice, and Psychology, providing me with a strong foundation in understanding human behavior and justice systems. I am set to graduate in December 2026 with a Bachelor’s in Criminology, which will enable me to address challenges in the field more effectively.

Personal Life

I’ve been married for 25 years and have three sons. My hobbies include traveling, camping, relaxing, and laughing out loud!
