As a retired U.S. Navy veteran and entrepreneur, I built my business from the ground up with little overhead, determination, and a commitment to creating opportunities for my family and community.
What started as a party rental company has grown into a full-service event experience focused on professionalism, reliability, and memorable celebrations. We specialize in event rentals, event planning, décor coordination, vendor partnerships, and creating customized experiences for birthdays, weddings, corporate events, reunions, and community gatherings throughout San Diego.
What sets us apart is our personal approach. We treat every event as if it were our own—paying attention to details, building genuine relationships with clients, and creating luxury-level experiences while remaining approachable and affordable. My children have worked alongside me throughout this journey, making this more than a business—it’s a legacy built through perseverance, service, and family.
Our mission is simple: to help people celebrate life’s moments beautifully while showing others that with consistency, hard work, and faith in yourself, you can build something meaningful from the ground up.
My journey started with service, resilience, and the determination to create something of my own. As a retired U.S. Navy veteran and single mother, I spent over two decades serving my country while learning discipline, leadership, problem solving, and perseverance. Throughout those years, I always dreamed of building something that would give me freedom, create opportunities for my family, and leave a legacy for my children.
I started Affordable Party Rentalz & Services from the ground up with no business loan, low overhead, and a willingness to work hard for every opportunity. In the beginning, it meant long days, learning through trial and error, reinvesting into inventory, and involving my children in the process—from cleaning and preparing rentals to helping execute events. What began as rentals slowly grew through consistency, word of mouth, and a commitment to showing up for every client.
As the business expanded, I realized clients wanted more than rentals—they wanted guidance, creativity, and someone they could trust with important moments. That inspired me to expand into Sylvia’s Signature Events and focus on creating elevated, memorable event experiences.
Today, my businesses represent more than events—they represent growth, family, service, and proof that you can start small and build something meaningful. My mission is to continue creating opportunities, inspiring others to believe in themselves, and showing that hard work, consistency, and faith can turn an idea into a legacy.
One of my greatest accomplishments is completing 22 years of service in the United States Navy while raising my children and continuing to pursue my vision for entrepreneurship. My military career taught me leadership, resilience, discipline, and the ability to adapt—qualities that continue to shape how I lead today.
Professionally, I am proud to have built Affordable Party Rentalz & Services from the ground up without business loans and with a focus on sustainable growth and low overhead. Through consistency, reinvestment, and dedication, I grew the business into a trusted event rental company serving the San Diego community and expanded into event planning through Sylvia’s Signature Events.
Some milestones I am especially proud of include growing inventory and services year after year, creating opportunities for my family to work alongside me, building relationships with clients and vendors, and earning repeat customers through professionalism and reliability.
Beyond business success, my proudest accomplishment is creating a legacy—showing my children and others that with hard work, faith, perseverance, and a willingness to start where you are, meaningful success is possible.
Outside of business, my greatest joy is my family. As a mother, one of the things I am most proud of is building something meaningful while allowing my children to be part of the journey. Working together has taught us the value of hard work, teamwork, resilience, and creating opportunities for future generations.
In my personal time, I enjoy fitness and personal growth, finding inspiration in creating memorable experiences for others, and continuing to challenge myself through new goals and business ventures. I believe life is about growth, making meaningful connections, and enjoying the journey while building a legacy that extends beyond yourself.
At my core, I value service, family, faith, and showing others that no matter where you start, dedication and consistency can create opportunities and lasting impact.

If I could give advice to my younger self, I would say: trust yourself sooner and never let fear, setbacks, or other people’s opinions determine your worth or limit your dreams. Success doesn’t happen overnight—it comes from consistency, patience, and showing up even when progress feels slow.
I would remind myself that every challenge is preparing me for something greater and that failure is not the opposite of success—it’s part of the journey. Keep believing, keep building, protect your peace, and never stop investing in yourself. One day you’ll look back and realize that every sacrifice, lesson, and hard season helped build the life and legacy you once only dreamed about.
